RECENT BOOKING — 50TH BIRTHDAY HOUSE PARTY
100 Guests, North London, Four Hours Of 80s & 90s
A recent 50th birthday celebration, themed around nostalgia, at a residence in North London. The hosts opted for an enhanced mobile DJ setup — a stucco case booth, column array speakers, two moving heads and eight uplighters — and requested an energising four-hour set of popular 80s and 90s club and party classics. The living room became the dance floor, and the DJ kept the energy high right through to the end of the night.
Ball committees have a different brief to a private party — a bigger room, a set running order alongside speeches and awards, and a crowd that wants to hear the night build properly from dinner through to the last dance. We work directly with committees on timing and sound coverage for the room.
A launch party sits between a private celebration and a corporate event — the guest list is personal, but the atmosphere still needs to land in a single evening. We work to a run sheet where needed and keep the music building through speeches, reveals and the after-party.

Not every celebration needs a venue. A house party DJ setup can be as compact or as full as the room allows — from a single deck-and-speaker rig for a living room to a full disco lighting and sound package for a garden marquee. We had a great experience working with DJ Shom for our reunion party. He was very easy to deal with from start to finish — practical, responsive and reassuring.
He went to the venue the night before to set up, coordinated directly with the venue himself, and kept us updated throughout. We also had a live band performing earlier in the evening, and Shom coordinated with them so they could plug into his system effortlessly, which made everything much smoother on the night.
With just a bit of briefing from us, he really understood the crowd and got the music and tone right. By the end of the evening, the whole crowd was on the dancefloor, and he really helped create a fantastic night.

Our wedding would not have been the same without our incredible DJ (Shom). From the moment he arrived, he brought such positive energy and created an amazing atmosphere that carried through the entire night.
He read the room perfectly and somehow managed to keep everyone on the dance floor all evening. The transitions between genres were seamless — one minute we were dancing to afrobeats, the next it was ABBA and disco classics, and every song choice just worked. He struck the perfect balance between crowd pleasers and personal touches, making the night feel fun, inclusive, and unforgettable.
